An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a given site. Each and every file that was requested for whatever reason shall be listed, so if you have just one page with 3 embedded pics, one video and one embedded text file, for example, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the six files that were accessed when the visitor opened the page. A log normally shows the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, worldwide web browser and IP address. Oftentimes you can also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your Internet site. The info that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can be processed by special software on a laptop or computer and used to write reports on the efficiency of a site, besides the web statistics that your hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting

Our custom Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. As soon as you sign in to your shared hosting account and visit this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you'll see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect instantaneously, so if you don't need one, you could stop it with only a click from the same section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already created content by simply clicking on the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our sophisticated web hosting platform shall generate access logs for any site hosted within a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this feature is permitted. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, that we supply with all the accounts, so if you want our system to start creating logs for any of them, you should simply click on the compact button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You could stop this function whenever you want by following the exact same steps. You'll find a Download link for each log inside the same exact section of the CP, so you can easily save the content generated by our system in .txt format with just a click. An existing log file may be downloaded even after the feature has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to see the data that has already been generated.
